Art Patron Caren Upshaw and Austin Oil Painter Valerie Rawlings

May 22, 2013 — AUSTIN, TX — Setting the Western Hemisphere art world on it’s ear, Austin realtor and art patron Caren Upshaw broke the previous record for most original V. Rawlings oil paintings purchased in a single day. Ms. Upshaw had previously reserved “Curled Up with a Good Book 2B” after discovering it on the artist’s online blog. On Monday, she arrived at the V.Rawlings art studio to pick up the aforementioned figurative painting. Upon touring the studio, (which is spread all over the walls of the Rawlings manse), she found three additional works of art she couldn’t resist! There was the well known and much loved floral oil painting ‘Blue and Green Hydrangeas’. Then Caren spied one of the artist’s latest floral still lifes ‘Purple Irises’. To top it off, she selected one of Valerie’s vintage acrylic landscape/seascapes — a painting of ‘Sailboats (after Monet)’. There was quite a flurry of excitement among the spectators (Bruce and the Troll!) as the bidding and buying built to a rousing climax. There were several last minute call-in bids; but in the end, Ms. Upshaw prevailed and went home with four original objets d’art. Thank you so much Caren, for your support!!!
